The Item You Should Have in Your Closet this Spring
March 17, 2020My husband, Seth, and I have only lived in apartments since being married, so we’re quite familiar with small closet space. As such, we’ve adopted a bit of ‘practical minimalism’ into our lives, and especially our closets. With little space comes an appreciation for a finely curated closet full of beautiful pieces that are also functional. It’s been a personal goal of mine over the past year to purchase and keep only the items that I reach for over and over again; and it’s made getting dressed in the morning all the more special.
When it comes to curating a closet that is beautiful and function, a classic trench should be at the top of your must-have list. This trench carried me through a week of Switzerland in the Spring and Paris in the fall; and I couldn’t love it more! If there is one piece you should invest in for the spring, this is it. It’s so classic and perfect for layering in all sorts of weather – I’ve worn it in a Swiss snowstorm as well as a 60 degree day walking along the Seine! And it was lovely for both.
Here are a few trench coats I’ve been loving:

This is the exact coat I have and love. Despite wearing it frequently, it looks just as new as it did when I brought it home. I love to tie the belt at the back of the coat and remove the hood to use it as a light jacket.

This is the coat you will wear for 15 years, replace, and wear for another 15 years. With the perfect khaki color and a more modern blue liner, it’s timeless and so chic.

If you’re ready to invest in timeless wardrobe, this piece will never go out of style. I remember trying this on for the first time last spring and it is exceptional. While this is not a part of my closet yet, I am so looking forward to adding it in the future!
